As a child growing up on a farm in the heartland of America my memories are
full of care free moments playing and exploring the wondrous beauty of
nature and a fair share of exhausting work. Like clockwork, before sunrise
I would hear my father’s voice calling upstairs, “boys ... it’s time to get up.”
This always filled me with sense of dread knowing our father had already
planned a long list of chores for my brother and me. We would usually
pretend to not hear him praying he would let us sleep in which was rarely
the case. The one day of the week that I never needed an alarm clock or
call to be woken was Sunday mornings. I would wait to leave my comfy
bed when the smell of bacon and pancakes made it to my nostrils which
then became a race with my siblings to get downstairs to greet our mother
who would have the entire table covered in an array of breakfast dishes.
These bananas foster pancakes and the other delectable dishes I have
included here should create the same joy and pleasure as a Sunday
morning and are the perfect way to start a Master Mason degree morning.
